Young House Love Book Tour in Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Books & Books
Posted by Candie (January 11, 2013 at 9:00 pm), 7 CommentsLiz and I were so excited when Thursday finally rolled around! We had been waiting anxiously since Sherry and John, of Young House Love announced their book tour for their Fort Lauderdale stop, January 10th at Books & Books. We are happy to report back that the night was a complete success – even despite my having a terrible cold that had left me unable to breathe properly and sounding like a man – sexy, huh? We had nabbed a front row seat for their “talk” and enjoyed their funny stories about the blog and book writing process. They were so enlightening and well-versed and actually EXACTLY how we had pictured them to be (and yes, Sherry is short, but so are we). It really was a wonderful night and an experience that we will carry with us for years to come.

After their “talk” portion of the signing, we stood in line and waited to have our books signed. We were also excited to give them our color blocked box ‘o love that we had put together. To my surprise, Sherry recognized the Craftbaby name that we had written on our books from our e-mail correspondence in the weeks past. She unknowingly coined a new name for us when she shrieked “YOU GUYS ARE THE CRAFTBABIES?!” You can imagine the huge smile that spread ear to ear on our faces when we realized she knew who we were. I may or may not have fist pumped and done a little SHAZAM movement with my arm. Hows that for dramatically dorky, folks? ;)
Here we are, in all our glory:

And you may notice Liz having an awkward “Do I put my hand on his shoulder? Is that weird?” moment:

And you ALSO may notice the poor “photographer” – or, museum volunteer who ended up having to take about a hundred book tour photos with 100 different cameras – CROPPED OUT THEIR BOOK! So, if you’ve been living under a rock, here is a link to Sherry & John’s first book, aptly titled Young House Love. Wait – what are they going to call their second NY Times bestseller? YHL2.0? Anyways, don’t have your copy yet? We have a chance for you to win your very own signed copy! Details will be announced Monday – STAY TUNED!
In the meantime, here’s what we had for sushi-fun-time after our YHL date… yum:

Were you guys able to hop on over to one of their book signings? We’d love for you to link up to your posts about your visit in the comments!

looks like you guys had fun! their book is awesome. I got it for my Nook when it was on sale for $2.99! sweet!
Yeah I love it – we had trouble narrowing down the “YHL Challenge” – but geometric art is just too fun :) You loving your nook? I’m considering one. xo Liz
Hey girls! We were sitting next to one another at the YHL event. Great recap and TOTALLY agree about the photographer. My photo with John and Sherry came out terrible. Oh well – the memory will live on in my head :). Just added your blog to my RSS feed and look forward to digging through the archives. Best of luck!
Can’t wait to see your project come to life, Erin! Let us know – keep in touch please!! It was so nice to meet you. xo
Hey Erin! It was so nice meeting you Thursday! :) Bummer about our photos – but let’s keep positive by saying that we’ll have a second chance at a photo with them in the future ;) Keep in touch! xo
Do y’all live in Ft. Lauderdale?! I lived there for one year and JUST moved back to TX, like a month ago. I only knew 4 crafty bloggers in all of South Florida! Love the YHL recap :) I went in Austin!
Hi Jamie! I (Candie) live in Coral Springs, but I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale. Liz lives in Royal Palm Beach. How did you live here and we never got together?! Do you come back often? How was the Austin turnout? We LOVED meeting Sherry & John- they’re super sweet! :)
