The Iron Pelican Antiques & Home Decor, St. Petersburg, Florida

These days, inspiration is coming at me full speed ahead, from all angles. It started a couple weeks ago when I was visiting the St. Petersburg area for Thanksgiving. This was the same weekend that I visited my friend Dale’s home and documented her intensely artistic home decor style. We were only there for a few days, but before we left, I got the chance to stop into an Antique store … accidentally. We were on our way to one of those most amazing Thai-Mexican fusion restaurants (Natilly’s - if you ever get a chance to visit, I highly recommend most everything on the menu, but especially the nacho appetizer) when mid-walk-to-restaurant-mission, I snuck into the store super slyly. My heart pitter-pattered as I made my way through the store virtually decorating a future home that doesn’t quite exist yet. Especially when I was greeted by the owners, a super cute husband and wife couple and their friendly dog. What is it about dogs in antique shops that makes me feel a special connection?

But thats enough of my babbling. Just take a look inside the Iron Pelican. Then try and tell me you wouldn’t have bought everything in the darn store. That my friends, is a challenge.

When I walked in, I immediately found the first item that I wanted to snag. An old, reclaimed chair that had been turned into a mail bin. Genius? I’d say so.

How much do you love this multi-colored desk? I can see it in a little boys room with tons of old pennants on the wall…maybe even an old letterman jacket?

This folding chair makes me want to gather friends around a table and break out a deck of cards and some drinks. Any takers?

My favorite item in the entire store. THE. The font, the size…everything about this is right. Why do I not have any place for this? I tried throughout our entire meal to justify buying this.

These chairs, that mirror to the right. ACK! Im in cute overload!

Let’s talk about this china cabinet for a second. I love it. A lot. I didn’t even mention it to my boyfriend though because I thought for sure he’d shun it. Much to my surprise, he turned to me and said “wow, I really like that china cabinet…the blue one”. And then I died and went to antique heaven.

Hello perfectly blue desk. Won’t you come live with me?

The personality in this mirror slays me. I’m loving the mix of baby blues and silver. Perfect. Oh, and the fact that I can see the reflection of my first love, THE in the background doesn’t hurt either…

They even had furniture outside (obviously- I could smell it from 12 blocks away – seriously, its like when pregnant women can smell something they’re having an aversion to – only with me…I smell vintage. VINTAGE, VINTAGE, VINTAGE. Mmm…

So which was your fav? Would you have snagged that “The” sign too? Are you loving all the different shades of blue, too? How bad does this make you want to find old furniture and DIY your buns off? Yeah, me too. Have you guys visited any antique shops lately? Feel free to link up in the comments below!
