[Meet our Sponsor] A Féte Beckons: DIY Bunting Challenge
Posted by Candie (June 13, 2012 at 5:14 pm), 2 CommentsThis week we present to you, Challenge #16!
We’re excited to introduce you to our Sponsor of our DIY Bunting Challenge. This Challenge comes to you courtesy of A Féte Beckons – which I’ve learned is basically your go-to shop for bunting galore. A Féte Beckons is a shop run by owner/operator Jaime, who is the most upbeat, colorful, pleasant girl to work with- we are SO happy to call her this weeks sponsor!
Meet Jaime
To give you an idea of what Jaime’s shop is all about, just check out the pics below…and then after you’ve wiped that drool off your chin, head on over to her Etsy shop and snatch up some bunting of your own!
Vintage Fabric Flag Embellished Note Cards
These caught my eye because they would be perfect to send as thank you cards- maybe for a wedding or a little girls birthday. You could even use them as a birthday card…especially since bunting is reminiscent of a birthday banner!
Happy Birthday Fabric Cake Bunting Decoration
Speaking of Birthdays…this fabric cake bunting is the best! I might just order one myself for a friend’s birthday which is creeping up! Even the font on the pennants are perfect!
Vintage Flora Fauna Garden Wedding Cupcake Pennant Flag Toppers
If these don’t scream wedding shower cupcake toppers then what? The heck? Does? These are perfectly vintage, perfectly pastel and perfectly romantic!
Luxury Sewn Paper Scallop Bunting
This is the prettiest garland that almost represents a circus-y theme. I would even love to put these on an invitation to a party or string them across a mantel in the Summer.
After checking out her Etsy Shop, we were so curious about the creative girl behind it, that we decided to ask Jaime a few questions…because we’re nosy like that!
CB:
What inspired you to name your Etsy shop A Féte Beckons?
Jaime:
Well, I knew I wanted something French in the name since French living inspires me, but I would also like to think that if someone happens to stumble across my shop, the name would sorta whisper “Yes! You need to throw that party, c’mon now!! Look! Here are all the goodies you can use!” haha! I’m not sure if it’s works but it’s funny to me!
CB:
How did you determine you were going to sell the specific items that are for sale in your shop?
Jaime:
Everything in my shop is a combination of all the things I love!!! My gracious customers definitely help me determine what is most popular – so its mandatory I only sell what they want more of! Lots of trial and error- and lots of researching too!
CB:
We’re in love with all of your items in A Féte Beckons! Do you make everything by hand?
Jaime:
Yes! Except for the very few vintage pieces I’ll throw in there and a few found supplies I come across.
CB:
What made you decide to take up bunting specifically for cakes?
Jaime:
It was actually a customers request!! They were made of paper and a bit bigger, initially and since I made the larger buntings already, I figured I’d give the customer an option of buying a matching cake bunting too – so that I’d be a one stop shop!
CB:
Do you enjoy any other type of crafting?
Jaime:
I don’t have too much time for anything else- but, I love to redecorate and restyle my home often. Thrifting is by far, my most favorite thing to do!
CB:
You live in Surprise, Arizona however, you were born and raised in San Diego, California- what brought you to Surprise?
Jaime:
I met my husband, Fernando in San Diego in our early 20s. He joined the military right after 9/11 which moved us to AZ. He’s been out of the military for about 5 years now but we love it so much here, we would never move back! Thrifing and vintage shopping is the BEST here too!
CB:
Do you follow any blogs? If so which ones?
Jaime:
Ah yes! I follow: stylemepretty, sfgirlbybay, vintagerevivals, mylittlebuffalo and designsponge
CB:
What’s your favorite “Craft Weapon” of choice?
Jaime:
Haha! Definitely the sewing machine and my bare hands!
CB:
Do you have a favorite Etsy shop that you can be found splurging at?
Jaime:
Usually vintage fabric supply shops. My faves are elegantitus, localhoneycrafts, dreamyvintagesheets, whimsiedots and sosovintage. I’ll even reward myself every now and then at fineandfunkyjewelry.
CB:
You attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Diego & Los Angeles and focused on Visual Communication/Merchandising/Presentation. Was there someone in your life who influenced your creativity? Was this always a dream?
Jaime:
Yes, it was always a dream! I went there to study interior design but moved toward the visual communications area instead. Window dressing/display and fashion styling are my loves.
CB:
You also run a second shop on Etsy called Avec Toi Vintage- can you describe how this shop differs from A Féte Beckons?
Jaime:
This shop is strictly vintage fashion – no handmaids. I concentrate on wearable pieces from the 80′s and 90′s with a few pieces from the midcentury decades.
CB:
We’re sure that with running two shops on Etsy you’re kept very busy- is this your full-time job?
Jaime:
This is my full time job! Epic! Plus being a full time Mom – I have my girl, Scarlett who will turn 5 this June! She takes up half of my day so time management and organization is King when it comes to business. (And I’ll admit my house is a disaster most of the time…)
Love from Jaime
