Thirsty Thursday: Pour me some Sangria!

Whenever I go out, if Sangria is a choice then you can find me ordering it…immediately. So, you can imagine the way that my mouth watered when I stumbled upon this photo on Pinterest…
Oh me oh my! Pour me a glass of that, pronto!
The recipe (as listed on Linda Wagner’s lovely site, but tweaked a little by me)
Ingredients:
- 1-2 bottles of crisp white wine, (Sauvignon Blanc and 1 bottle of sparkling Vino Verde)
- 2 ripe local peaches, sliced
- 1 pint raspberries
- 2 kiwis
- several sprigs of mint
- Sugar or faux sugar (stevia perhaps?)
Just add the sliced fruit and mint to the wine and add sugar to taste. Let sit for at least an hour in the fridge to let the flavors infuse.
My project of choice, with drink in hand was to fix my brand new, broken shoe. Thats right, you pay way too much for shoes that are comfy and then you end up spending the night drinking sangria while fixing the darn things. Did I mention that I had only worn these shoes twice when they decided to go on strike?
I seriously love these slip-ons. They’re by Steve Madden and I have half a mind to call up Stevie and give him a piece of my mind.
On second thought…maybe the shoes could call Stevie themselves? They do have a mouth to speak with!
So, on my father’s recommendation, I headed to Wal*Mart and picked up some Shoe Goo! I had no idea this stuff existed but I wish I would have invented it. It’s pure genius! Shoe. Goo!
I put a little goo on both sides…
Then I held it together, wiped off the excess that squeezed out and put it under something very heavy for the night.
(Yes, I’m aware that I’m in desperate need of a little lotion- and yes, I was a little messy and that is most definitely shoe goo on my nail :))
And it worked! It dried and is as good as new! I’m actually wearing them as we speak and I’m so glad that I was able to resuscitate them and bring em back to life!
So, enjoy the sangria and rest assured that the shoes are fine! haha
Have you guys had any shoe issues after only a couple wears? Lame-o…but share your stories with us! Perhaps to make me feel a little better?
